McDonald's is rumored to be launching a new McFlurry flavor just in time for summer - and fans of the popular flavor are VERY excited!

Rumors are swirling that McDonald's is due to launch a brand new McFlurry to get fans through the summer.

The fast food giant could launch a new Peanut Butter Crunch McFlurry as soon as July, according to Eat This, Not That

The chilly treat, which consists of vanilla soft-serve, chocolate, peanut butter and cookies was reportedly a fan favorite during its testing period in regional California stores last year.

Snack enthusiasts at the Instagram account Snackolator posted about the potential news last week.

'If the rumors are true, this would hit McDonald's in the US in July after the Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry bids us adieu,' the caption read. 'The reviews that I read seemed very positive and a lot of comparisons to a Reese's flavor with peanut butter cookies and chocolate.'

The limited edition Strawberry Shortcake McFlurry, which went on sale on April 12, consists of vanilla soft serve with strawberry-flavored clusters and shortbread cookies.

Fans were convinced the fast food giant would release another new flavor for summer after it introduced the limited edition Chocolatey Pretzel McFlurry, which was only available between May and July last year.

There are various different flavors of McFlurry - including long-time favorites Oreo and M&M's.

The potential new addition to the menu comes after McDonald's reported a net income of $1.8billion for the first quarter of this year, representing a 63 percent increase compared to the same period last year of $1.1billion.

The company also revealed that higher prices and a rising number of orders has boosted sales in the first quarter by four per cent to $5.9billion compared to this time last year.

CEO Chris Kempczinski warned of job cuts in January, telling staff the firm had become 'unfocused' and changes were needed to help it grow

Earlier this year, McDonald's chief executive Chris Kempczinski announced the chain would undergo a major restructuring, involving the laying off of some staff.

He warned of job cuts in January, telling staff the company had become 'unfocused' and changes were needed to help it grow.

He also suggested the restructuring could see menus simplified, with Mr Kempczinski warning there had been too much duplication.

'We had across the globe 70 different, distinct versions of what a crispy chicken sandwich would look like,' Kempczinski said. 'I don't need 70 different permutations of a chicken sandwich.'

While classics like McFlurries and Big Macs are known to McDonald's fans the world over, the firm does indeed offer plenty of local versions of popular options.
