Tuesday Is Free McFlurry Day at McDonald’s—Here’s How to Claim Yours

Updated: Jan. 27, 2023

We're super excited about the flavor that's up for grabs, too.

It’s no secret that we love everything about McDonald’s—from their signature fries to their delicious chocolate pies (not to mention their secret birthday cakes!). However, like most customers, we’re super bummed whenever their McFlurry machines are out of order (which seems to happen a lot). McDonald’s announced something that has us hunting down the nearest working ice cream machine—free McFlurries!

Get a McFlurry for Free—for One Day Only

This is not a drill. McDonald’s will be offering a regular-sized Caramel Brownie McFlurry for free on Tuesday, May 4 (also known as Star Wars Day). There’s no purchase necessary—all you have to do is scan the offer code in the McDonald’s app and grab your sweet treat. The latest McFlurry features “creamy vanilla soft serve made with real dairy, with brownie pieces and caramel topping blended throughout.” We don’t know about you, but that definitely sounds like it’s worth a trip to Mickey D’s!

If you don’t feel like leaving the house, you can also get the McFlurry for free on orders over $15 on the UberEats app from May 3 through 9. Now that’s what we call a deal. (Hungry for more savings? You can get free Taco Bell on the same day.)

Why Is McD’s Offering the McFlurry for Free?

It all started with the iconic McFlurry spoon. If you’ve ever thought the hollow spoon was a straw, you’re not alone—we’ve all been left a little red-faced trying to slurp up our favorite ice cream treat. To make up for this, McDonald’s decided to offer a free McFlurry to anyone who’s ever thought the spoon was a straw…so basically, everyone.

Before you head for any flurries, however, you can now check McDonald’s latest app—McBroken—to make sure your local flurry machine is up and running!

Why Are McFlurry Spoons Hollow, Anyway?

As for why the spoon is hollow, McDonald’s explained that it allows employees to attach it to the machine and mix the McFlurry before serving. So unfortunately, that design won’t be changing anytime soon, but at least we’ll get a free McFlurry to make up for the confusion! We’re lovin’ it.
